Department of Economics is established in the year 2017 by starting Under Graduate ProgrammeB. A. Economics with Foreign Trade. As against the conventional BA (Economics) offered in most of the colleges, Alphonsa Arts & science Collegethought of starting BA programme in the applied areas of Foreign Trade, Documentations, Logistics and Export Marketing coupled with the theories of Economics. The students getting basic training in cooperation and banking is an added advantage of this programme. The department has a total strength of 90 students and three members of faculty. Apart from the conventional class room learning, Students are encouraged to learn through experiential and participative learning. The department conducts Budget analysis and its discussion every year in order to give a seamless experience to the students. Industry Visits and Project works give practical exposure to the students.
The Department also undertakes various programmes and activities to address the special needs of slow learners and advanced learners. Remedial coaching, Bridge Courses, Debates are the important among them. The Department is committed to inculcate the research habits, innovation and knowledge sharing through various programmes.
